Well, here it is now March 1st. I haven't really done anything significant on the Center Door since before Christmas. Below, is work that was done prior to November.
Prior to the Holidays, I purchased a steering column from a gentleman out West, (either Washington or Oregon), as my Centerdoor does not have one. The column came with just the housing, the spark/throttle levers, gears, frame bracket, and shaft. All other pieces were missing.
I had a 26-27 junk steering column that I removed the horn wire tube from, as the column I got didn't have one (you could just barely make out where it had been).
A "T" friend of mine tacked it onto the column for me in the location I specified. I do not own a welder and haven't welded anything in over 25 years. I may purchase a flux core welder to do some minor sheet metal repair soon.
This is a pattern for the steering column support bracket that bolts to the instrument panel. I drew this and made one from sheet stock after photographing another Centerdoor, and tracing the outline that remained on my dash. it will need some tweaking where the horn tube sits.
Below is test fitting all the sundry pieces-parts that go on the column shaft itself. Nothing is affixed permanently yet. The throttle linkage is actually supposed to face down. I have since changed that. I replaced one worn gear, and have determined I need another one. The steering wheel spider is just slightly bent out of kilter. I'm debating as to whether I pull it straight or leave it alone.
