In the Driver's Seat

Here, I show the driver's seat. The spring was naked when I got it, but I assume it looks similar to the passenger seat which retains its fabric. It was frozen solid and would not fold.

The wood had been cut by a previous owner but not assembled. Using the original pieces that were still there as a guide, I managed to assemble this seat bottom. This attaches to a metal tub that surrounds the square gasoline tank.

The bolts are too long, so I cut them with a Dremel.

As I mentioned in another post, this is how some people restore both seats, instead of individually different like in this car.

Now, it folds.

The cushion spring was bare with no wood attached. I was able to make a frame to screw the spring to and subsequently will nail the fabric onto.

Here you can see the seat box with the gas tank inside. I'm not really happy with the springs and may replace individual stacks from Restoration Supply Company. At least I've stopped the rust.
