Showing some work on the rear PILLAR QUARTER. This is the passenger side of the car. The stepped area is where the rear QUARTER HEADER screws to the pillar upright.
The other end of the header attaches to the PILLAR DOOR LOCK or Latch Pillar at the top. How this is facilitated is exactly like the header attachment to the HINGE PILLAR. There is a square mortise cut into the pillar into which a tenon is inserted. The header is then Pocket-holed with two screws into the pillar from the top of the header. Again, you will notice a hole in the side of the pillar. This hole is for a long screw that attaches to the roof rail from inside the car.
Notice in the above two pictures, the rear quarter pillars do not have tenons protruding up from them (as the latch pillars do). This is a mistake. They are SUPPOSED to have tenons. The piece in the first picture was a replaced section of wood and no tenon was replicated. The other pillar had its tenon sawed off. If you could see it from above, a definite outline is visible. There has to be a tenon because on the rear most pillar, the only other points of attachment to the car is the brace that sits on top of the rear seat box. The roof rail rides on top of the header and the rear wooden framework is attached to it, NOT the pillar. In the above picture, the pillar brace is on the left (with a hole in it for the fender support to screw into).
I am going to have to fabricate the tenons for these attachment points.
The REAR QUARTER SASH REST is the board at the bottom shaped like a paddle. It is not easily defined in the wood drawings as to it's appearance. Thankfully, these were intact.
Also, the slope isn't as dramatic as shown in the pictures. It will a little less pronounced once bolted to the car.
I didn't photograph the REAR QUARTERS in any great detail as they were mostly intact, and the wood not damaged.
